Whether dental students may achieve a more upright posture by means of training and how this might affect the quality of their tooth preparations has not been investigated. In this study the thoracolumbar extension of 22 dental students in their third semester was recorded while they prepared tooth 26 on a dental simulator before and after an ergonomics training. After the training, the majority of the students assumed a more erect posture without any negative impact on the quality of their tooth preparations.
