Abstract

Hypercholesterolemia demonstrably increases the risk, to contract a coronary heart disease. Classically, it is treated with drugs that have many side effects: the statins. Orthomolecular medicine offers promising alternatives. In her article, the author presents the red yeast rice, a TCM recipe. In 2011, the EU has approved red yeast rice as a dietary supplement.
