A close collaborative relationship between interventional radiologists and endoscopists is crucial for optimal management of patients with biliary tract pathology as both specialties have separate, but complementary techniques that are crucial to comprehensive care. Multidisciplinary review of routine and challenging cases is increasingly becoming the norm, and during these discussions, the pros and cons of varying approaches are assessed. The goal of this issue of DDI is to provide both interventional radiology and endoscopy perspectives on many aspects of biliary tract management. Topics cover common and complex scenarios ranging from biliary strictures to stone disease to biliary leaks, with many topics in between. The most recent data, technology, and approaches are described by experienced authors from both fields to provide a comprehensive overview of the most current data and perspectives. By improving all stakeholders' understanding of each specialty's capabilities, discussions and decision-making will be enhanced. Furthermore, such knowledge can improve inter-disciplinary cross-pollination in techniques and approaches, which can further push capabilities in managing complex biliary tract pathology.
