Abstract
There are multiple treatment options for the broad spectrum of patellofemoral conditions.
The most common conditions are patellofemoral instability and osteoarthritis. Several
treatment modalities have been described for these conditions, and distal realignment
procedures are especially relevant. Although these techniques are effective in most
cases, they are not free of problems, reported in up to one-third of cases.
This article presents three cases undergoing an anterior tibial tubercle osteotomy
as a therapeutic tool for two distinct conditions. All cases had a tibial fracture
in the osteotomy site, an uncommon complication with potential severe prognostic consequences.
