Endoscopic full-thickness resection of adenocarcinoma of the colon
Abstract Text Conventional endoscopic resection techniques are limited to the superficial layers of the gastrointestinal wall, and may be insufficient in cases of deeper invasion or when an adequate representation of submucosa is warranted. Endoscopic full-thickness resection (EFTR) may be suitable in these instances, allowing for complete one-step transmural resection, while securing defect closure with an over-the-scope clip (OTS-clip) [1] [2] [3] [4]. We report the case of a colonic 18mm lesion (Paris classification 0-IIa+IIc), with disrupted vessels and amorphous surphace pattern, suspicious for deep invasion. Biopsies confirmed invasive adenocarcinoma. The patient was submitted to transmural resection with a full-thickness resection device (FTRD), without complications.
