Aims To demonstrate the effect of incidence of colorectal cancer after intruction of a national FIT based colorectal cancer screening program
Methods Using data from the national danish colorectal cancer screening register, Danisch colorectal cancer register and the Association of the Nordic cancer registries.
Results The national danish colorectal cancer screening program was started in 2014 invited all persons between 50 and 74 years of aged to sent in FIT test during a four years period. After the first screeninground the screeningprogram was changed to biannually invitations. The participation rate was 60%. during ten years 227.304 positive FIT was performed resulting in 9.450 persons with screen detected colorectal cancer, 2/3 diagnosed in an early staged. The overall ADR was increasing during the screening program to 61% in 2023 og the national rate with serrated lesions was also increasing during the screeningprogram to 135 in 2023. The incidence of Colorectal cancer has been decreasing from 2016 to 2023 in Denamark but only for aged group between 60 to 74 years of aged. Data from the Nordcan confirmed that aged-standadized rate per 100.000 aged 50 to 79 years was decreaced in Denmark 170 to 132 in the period from 2010 to 2022
Conclusions It seems that introduction of the Danisch colorectal cancer screening program had decreaced the incidence of colorectal cancer in Denmark
