Introduction to Hanna Savolainen-Peltonen, MD, PhD

Dr. Hanna Savolainen-Peltonen is one of the leading Finnish experts in obstetrics, gynecology, and reproductive medicine, with a distinguished career in clinical practice, research, education, and leadership. She currently serves as Chief Physician at the Reproductive Medicine Unit, Helsinki University Hospital and holds the title of Docent in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Helsinki.
Her academic and research work has focused on reproductive health, menopause, and hormonal regulation, supported by competitive grants from the Academy of Finland, Jane and Aatos Erkko Foundation, and Helsinki University Hospital. Her work on effects of hormones on metabolism and adiposity dynamics in breast tissue are at the forefront of this field.
In addition to her academic achievements, Dr. Savolainen-Peltonen is deeply involved in national and Nordic professional societies. She has held leadership roles in the Finnish Fertility Society, Finnish Menopause Society, and Nordic Fertility Society. Her contributions to healthcare development include coordinating digital care pathways and national medical education initiatives. Dr. Savolainen-Peltonen is a respected educator, scientific organizer, and editor, and continues to play an influential role in shaping reproductive health policy and practice in Finland and beyond. Here, as a Guest Editor she has generated an exciting issue on current and timely issues on ovarian hormonal decline and menopause.
