A new synthesis of 1,2-dihydroxy-3-[(Z)-8-hepta-decenyl]benzene (4) and 1,2-dihydroxy-3-[(Z,Z)-8,11-pentadeca-dienyl]benzene (5), a mono- and diolefinic component of urushiol, is described. A synthesis of the monoolefinic cyano derivative 1,2-dihydroxy-3-[(EZ)-9-cyano-8-heptadecenyl]benzene (22) is also reported.
