A three-step synthesis of civetone (cis-9-cycloheptadecen-1-one) from methyl cis-9-octadecenoate via an intramolecular metathesis reaction of pentatriaconta-9,26-dien-18-one and nonadeca-1,18-dien-10-one is presented.
