Following treatment of glycals 1 and 5 with iodoisocyanate, the resulting intermediate glycosyl isocyanates undergo inter- or intramolecular reaction with nucleophiles. Thus carbamate linked deoxy disaccharide structures 4 or 1,3-carbamate-fused derivatives 7 are obtained.
