Annelation of imines 4-6 derived from a homochiral bicyclic aldehyde, 3,6,6-trimethylbicyclo[3.1.0] hex-2-ene-2-carbaldehyde, with acid chlorides or equivalent 1-3 and triethylamine provided cis-ß-lactams 7 and 8a-i in excellent yields with high diastereoselectivity.
