Chlorofluorination of alkenes and alkynes with an N-chlorosaccharin - HF/pyridine system results in the formation of vicinal chloro-fluoroalkanes or alkenes, respectively. Depending upon the substrate, the addition proceeds either exclusively anti or with high anti stereoselectivity. Only Markovnikov type adducts are formed in practically quantitative yields.
