Ring cleavage of an isoxazoline and isoxazolidines obtained from 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition of [60]fullerene with N-silyloxynitrones was effected by methoxide and fluoride anions at low temperature especially in the presence of methanol to give bifunctionalized derivatives (a β-hydroxy nitrile and β-hydroxy oximes, respectively).
