Fullerene chemistry studies often reveal unexpected phenomena, produce the occasional success, and require greater familiarity with symmetry than is customary in organic chemistry. These aspects are encountered in our studies of the formation of fullerene hydrides, hydroxides, halides, oxides, arylfullerenes, and cycloadducts.
