Zusammenfassung
Bei der Betreuung unheilbar Kranker in ihrer häuslichen Umgebung hat der Hausarzt
als so genannter „Sterbebeistand” eine besonders wichtige Aufgabe. Neben der Information
des Patienten und dessen Angehörigen, zählen die Organisation der Grundpflege, die
Behandlung von Begleitsymptomen und die Bereitstellung einer adäquaten Schmerztherapie
zu seinen Aufgaben. Mit am wichtigsten ist es sicherlich, den Patienten vor Schmerzen
zu bewahren. Von immenser Bedeutung für den Patienten sind jedoch auch menschliche
Zuwendung und die Schaffung von Geborgenheit. Zudem verlangen die seelischen und nicht
zuletzt die physischen Belastungen pflegender Angehöriger Hilfe und Zuwendung, auch
oft über den Tod des Schwerkranken hinaus.
Summary
In the care of the incurably sick in their own homes, the family doctor has a particularly
important task as the first care-provider. Apart from giving information to the patient
and his relatives, the organization of basic care, treatment of concomitant symptoms,
and ensuring the availability of appropriate pain treatment are essential elements
of his catalogue of tasks. Among the most important of these is, without a doubt,
relieving the patient's pain. Nevertheless, although effective analgesics and treatment
strategies are available, almost three-quarters of all patients are still not receiving
appropriate analgesic treatment. Of extreme importance for the patient, however, are
also loving attention and an atmosphere of warmth and security. Furthermore, the psychological
and, not least, the physical, stress suffered by the relatives also requires attention
- often beyond the death of the loved one.
