Interest in technical developments related to small-bowel imaging has been reflected in the number of abstracts dealing with the use of capsule endoscopy and double-balloon enteroscopy in gastrointestinal bleeding; the enthusiasm is still growing. For peptic ulcer bleeding, the surprisingly still high rates of recurrent bleeding, in spite of technological advances, still motivates clinicians to study the various factors that may influence the outcome and determine the way in which centers can adhere to practices that are based on the best available evidence. Concerns relating to the outcome of glue injection for bleeding gastric varices appear to be unjustified so far. There are still uncertainties relating to the endoscopic diagnosis and treatment of gastric antral vascular ectasia, as reflected in some studies.
