ESGE Grant Programme 2008

Each year the ESGE awards ten grants to fully trained endoscopists who wish to undertake further training in highly specialised endoscopic techniques at an officially recognised ESGE training centre. Each grant covers eight weeks, and includes travel expenses, accommodation (hotel or student housing) and a weekly allowance

Application Requirements
Grants are offered exclusively to ESGE Individual Members. Applicants must be trained endoscopists with respective medical degrees and training certificates. A letter of reference from the current employer or otherwise qualified person is required, as is a complete C.V. The official training language in the centre can be English or French, in accordance with the location of the training centre, and applicants are expected to have a high proficiency in one of these languages. Proof of language skills is requested, and telephone interviews will take place before final acceptance. Applicants must be below the age of 35 as of January 1, 2008 in order to apply.

Applications from the following countries are given priority: Bosnia & Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Egypt, Hungary, Iraq, Jordan, Latvia, Lebanon, Lithuania, Macedonia, Morocco, Poland, Romania, Russia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Syria, Tunisia, Turkey, Ukraine, Yugoslavia.

Applications must be made through the ESGE Secretariat, preferably via the ESGE website (www.esge.com). Please include:

  • completed application form

  • certification that the applicant is qualified in diagnostic endoscopy

  • reference from current employer

  • a complete curriculum vitae

  • documentation of proficiency in foreign language

Please note that hands-on training is not foreseen and is not offered by the ESGE host centers.

Selection and site allocation will be made by the ESGE Education Committee. However, the applicants are asked to list three training centres in the order of their preference. Some centres additionally offer EUS-Training. Applications must reach the ESGE Secretariat (address below) no later than July 1, 2007.

ESGE Individual membership is open to physicians (or trainees) with formal training in gastroenterology, surgery or internal medicine, who wish to benefit and also to contribute to the Society's purpose to promote good endoscopy.
