Once again, this year's program of the Journées Francophones de Pathologie Digestive makes an important contribution to endoscopy with many papers, themed sessions, lectures and also high-quality posters.

The French Society of Digestive Endoscopy (SFED) is of course present at this national annual meeting encompassing all the fields of the speciality. The particularity of this congress is to bring together scientific sessions and continuing medical education.

Among the abstracts reserved for oral presentation topics include naturally, most of the recent endoscopic techniques as EMR modalities with short and long-term results, the treatment of the Barrett's esophagus and of the benign biliary stenosis, and stenting for malignant digestive stenosis. We should also mention large studies reporting the follow-up of patients after endoscopic treatments of superficial neoplastic lesions and the inquiries on the endoscopic practice among a sample of French gastroenterologists.

This program demonstrate the present liveliness of the digestive endoscopy and the rapid development of new techniques which are increasingly accessible to current practice.

The role of the scientific societies and specially of the SFED is essential to facilitate the impact of numerous studies by guaranteeing the indispensable scientific rigor and the quality of what has been achieved.
