Abstract

About every 10th German suffers from COPD or asthma, both of which are common due to significant clinical overlap. This also applies to their inflammatory component, the importance of antioxidant defense and the risk of acute and recurrent respiratory tract infections. In prophylaxis and therapy, targeted diagnostic and supplementation of orthomolecular substances must be given, especially vitamins C and D as well as selenium, zinc, magnesium and omega-3 fatty acids.
