In this proof-of-concept study using ex vivo samples of liver, bile duct, and pancreas,
the authors show that volumetric laser endomicroscopy (VLE) can identify the histological
changes of biliary and pancreatic ducts, therefore allowing possible real-time diagnosis
of various pancreatobiliary diseases.
