Gaius Longcroft-Wheaton et al. A feasibility trial of Acetic acid-targeted Biopsies versus nontargeted quadrantic biopsies during BArrett’s surveillance: the ABBA trial
Study assessing the feasibility of initiating a large crossover trial on the use of
acetic acid-targeted biopsies in Barrett’s surveillance. Qualitative analysis showed
this was acceptable to both patients and physicians. Initial results in 200 patients
suggest that acetic acid chromoendoscopy can reduce the number of biopsies by almost
a factor of 10 compared with the Seattle protocol, and a further large definitive
trial is now warranted.
