Hiroko Nakahira et al. Risk of recurrence when cutting into intramucosal (pT1a) cancer from the cutting-plane side during gastric endoscopic submucosal dissection

The risk of recurrence after cutting into a pT1a lesion from the cutting-plane side during ESD, thereby making the vertical margin positive or unclear, is examined. As no local recurrences were found, this study suggests that patients could proceed to endoscopic surveillance rather than salvage surgery.
