Dear Editor,

The comprehensive study on “Cardiovascular Hemodynamic Changes after Antenatal Corticosteroids (ACS) in Growth Restricted (GR) and Appropriate for Gestational Age (AGA) Fetuses” by Laura Marchi and colleagues [1] shows two seemingly contradictory results: restored UA end diastolic flow in GR fetuses, which seems beneficial, but increased MPI of the right ventricle (RV), which indicates a decline in right cardiac function. In the discussion the authors postulated that cardiac overload due to placental vasodilation may result in increased preload, thus negatively affecting the already challenged heart of GR fetuses.
