Mohammad Al-Haddad et al. Fine-needle aspiration of pancreatic cystic lesions: a randomized study with long-term follow-up comparing standard and flexible needles

A 19G flexible fine-needle aspiration (FNA) needle was compared in this randomized trial with 22G and 19G standard FNA needles for the diagnosis of pancreatic cystic lesions (PCLs). Significantly more cysts were successfully aspirated with the 19G flexible and 22G needles than with the standard 19G needle. Flexible needles may be particularly useful for sampling PCLs in the head or uncinate process of the pancreas.
