EPA oder DHA – das ist hier die Frage!

Zusammenfassung

Aus Eicosapentaensäure und Docosahexaensäure gehen entzündungshemmende Substanzen hervor. Bezüglich des antiinflammatorischen Effekts scheint es keine durchgängigen Unterschiede zwischen den beiden ω-3-Fettsäuren zu geben. Bedeutsamer ist die Gesamtmenge an EPA und DHA. In klinischen Studien zeigen EPA-lastige Öle bei Rheuma stärkere analgetische Effekte. In der Schutzwirkung vor psychischen Erkrankungen bei Jugendlichen sind einer Studie zufolge beide Fettsäuren gleich effektiv. DHA ist bei der Verbesserung kognitiver Funktionen überlegen.
