Victoria Arthursson et al. Risk of recurrence after endoscopic resection of nonpedunculated
T1 colorectal cancer
In patients with endoscopically resected T1 colorectal cancer (CRC), salvage surgery
can subsequently be performed or, in cases where the risk of lymph node metastasis
is low or the risk of surgery is high, endoscopic follow-up can be done. This retrospective
registry-based study examined patients with nonpedunculated T1 CRC treated by only
local excision and found a tumor recurrence risk of 4.7 % in these predominantly low
risk lesions, with the strongest risk factor being rectal location.
