Hideki Ishikawa et al. Intensive endoscopic resection for downstaging of polyp burden in patients with familial adenomatous polyposis (J-FAPP Study III): a multicenter prospective interventional study

This single-arm intervention study included patients with mild-to-moderate familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP) who had not undergone colectomy or who had undergone colectomy but had ≥ 10 cm of colon remaining. All patients underwent intensive downstaging colorectal polypectomy (IDP), first with resection of polyps of ≥ 10 mm, followed by polyps of ≥ 5 mm. The authors concluded that IDP could delay or even avoid colectomy in patients with FAP; however, further studies with clear genetic profiling and long-term follow-up are needed.
