David E. F. W.M. van Toledo et al. Advanced serrated polyps as a target of screening: detection rate and positive predictive value within a fecal immunochemical test-based colorectal cancer screening population

The detection rate for advanced serrated polyps (ASPs) was examined in this large population-based study within the Dutch FIT-based screening program. ASPs were detected in 5.9% of screenees and were more frequently found in women and in screenees in older age groups. Including ASPs, in addition to colorectal cancers and advanced adenomas, slightly increased the positive predictive value of FIT in a screening population, from 41.1% to 43.8%.
