Amit Maydeo et al. Endoscopic full-thickness plication for the treatment of gastroesophageal
reflux after peroral endoscopic myotomy: a randomized sham-controlled study
This randomized sham-controlled study included 60 patients undergoing either endoscopic
full-thickness plication or a sham procedure for the treatment of gastroesophageal
reflux disease (GERD) after peroral endoscopic myotomy. Patients randomized to the
intervention group showed significant reduction in esophageal acid exposure time,
improvement in GERD Questionnaire score, and reduction in use of proton pump inhibitors,
with no major adverse events. Longer follow-up is needed to confirm these promising
results.
