Jose Antonio Almario et al. Through-the-scope suture closure of nonampullary duodenal
endoscopic mucosal resection defects: a retrospective multicenter cohort study
Delayed bleeding is one of the most common adverse events associated with endoscopic
mucosal resection (EMR) of nonampullary duodenal polyps. The authors report their
experience in 36 patients, with mean duodenal lesion sizes of 29 mm and mean post-EMR
mucosal defect sizes of 37 mm, using a novel through-the-scope (TTS) suturing system.
Complete closure of the post-EMR defect was achieved in 78 % of patients with TTS
suturing alone and in all the remaining cases with adjunctive tools, with no reports
of delayed bleeding.
