Digitale Fertigung kieferorthopädischer Apparaturen – ein Einblick
Digital Manufacturing of Orthodontic Appliances – An Insight
Abstract
Digital orthodontics has seen significant advancements in recent decades due to technological innovations. One of these innovations is the use of CAD/CAM (Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided Manufacturing) for the production of orthodontic appliances. Particularly noteworthy are 3D printing and milling technology, which increasingly enable the production of appliances made from plastics. The following article explores the role of 3D printing and milling technology in the production of orthodontic appliances made from plastics, while consciously excluding appliances made from metal and their associated manufacturing methods and applications.
