Author commentary on Naohisa Yoshida et al.
Closure of endoscopic resection defects has been shown to reduce delayed bleeding; however, clip closure of large defects can be challenging. This single-center case series (n = 61) examined the safety and efficacy of a new clip with a sharp claw to assist closure of 20–60-mm colorectal ESD defects. Complete closure was achieved in 98.4% in an average of 7 minutes, and means of 1 novel clip and 5 standard clips, respectively, were used. No delayed bleeding or perforation occurred, and overall adverse events were fewer than in a historical comparison group.
