Martijn R. Jong et al. Impact of standard enhancement settings of endoscopy systems
on performance of endoscopic artificial intelligence systems
Endoscopy system post-processing enhancement settings are configurable, and variations
in
settings may impact the performance of computer-aided detection (CADe) and
diagnosis (CADx). This retrospective simulation study used images from prior
CADe (Barrett’s neoplasia) and CADx (colorectal polyps) trials and examined
the impact of varying enhancement settings on diagnostic performance.
Enhancement settings had a measurable impact on CADe/CADx performance, which
could be reduced by retraining using image enhancement-based data
augmentation.
