Zhenkai Luo et al. A novel technique for submucosal tumors in the esophagus: mucosal
zipper endoscopic resection
Removal of large or proximal esophageal submucosal tumors is currently challenging.
In the novel
technique of mucosal zipper endoscopic resection (MZER) a longitudinal
mucosal incision is followed by submucosal dissection around the tumor. In
this pilot study involving 24 patients, MZER had a 100 % success rate, with
no cases of delayed bleeding or perforation. This promising procedure needs
comprehensive prospective evaluation of its safety and efficacy.
