Simone Rocchetto et al. Added value of a balloon-based mucosal exposure device in
computer-aided detection-assisted colonoscopy: a randomized controlled trial (COMBAT
study)
The effectiveness of a balloon-based mucosal exposure device during colonoscopy with
computer-aided detection (CADe) was evaluated in this multicenter randomized trial,
involving 644 patients with positive fecal immunochemical tests. No added benefit
from using the device was shown, either in number of patients identified with findings
deemed high risk according to ESGE criteria, or in adenoma detection rate, suggesting
that the CADe system alone may already maximize detection.
