Author commentary
Author commentary on Atsushi Imagawa et al.
Although the environmental impact of endoscopy is still high owing to patient transport, scope cleansing, and use of consumables, a simple intervention with patient education on toilet flushing during bowel preparation significantly reduced the amount of water used for flushing. While the per-session reduction was only modest, implementing these measures on a regional or national scale could result in significant water conservation over time.
