Ebergeruch – Chirurgische Kastration oder Impfung?

Die chirurgische Kastration männlicher Schweine – weltweit in vielen Ländern übliche Praxis – hat zum Ziel, die Entwicklung eines unangenehmen Geschmacks und Geruchs des Fleisches von Ebern zu verhindern. Aus Tierschutzgründen wurden jedoch in letzter Zeit in einigen Ländern Gesetze erlassen, die die Kastration nur noch mit Einschränkungen zulassen oder ganz verbieten. Wissenschaftliche Studien zur Anwendung einer GnRF-Vakzine bei Schweinen lassen darauf schließen, dass die Impfung von Mastschweinen mit Improvac® als Alternative zur chirurgischen Kastration männlicher Saugferkel zu betrachten ist.
