Cantharidenpflaster bei Schmerzen des Bewegungsapparats

Zusammenfassung

Der Fall einer 72-jährigen Patientin mit einer aktivierten Gonarthrose rechts wird geschildert. Trotz leitliniengerechter Therapie kommt es zu einer Verschlechterung der Symptomatik und gravierenden Nebenwirkungen. Eine komplementäre Therapie mit Selbsthilfestrategien, Akupunktur und die lokale Anlage eines Cantharidenpflasters zur symptomatischen Schmerztherapie wurde eingeleitet. Der multimodale Behandlungsansatz führte zu einer raschen klinischen Beschwerdeminderung, die Cantharidenpflastertherapie induzierte eine sofortige, effektive Schmerzreduktion. Der Fall und die traditionelle Behandlungsform des Cantharidenpflasters werden diskutiert.

Abstract

A 72-year-old female patient was diagnosed with extremely painful osteoarthritis. Despite of a conventional treatment according to the current guidelines the symptoms got worse and severe side effects occurred. A complementary therapy comprising self-help strategies, acupuncture and the local application of a cantharidin plaster for pain release was initiated. The multimodal CAM treatment resulted in a rapid clinical reduction of the symptoms and the cantharidin treatment effectively relieved pain. The case and the potential of topical cantharidin in pain syndromes are discussed.
