Paul Fockens ESGE President

Dear Endoscopy readers and ESGE members, it is a great honor for me to have been appointed President of the European Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy during the UEGW in my hometown. ESGE has become a much more productive society over the past decade and the cooperation with the journal Endoscopy has flourished from this increased activity. ESGE has been more active on many levels. The educational efforts as well as the production of a number of important guidelines are possibly the two most visible endeavours. ESGE guidelines are always published in our official journal Endoscopy and are available with free access on line. Through the guidelines and our educational efforts, we hope to improve the quality of endoscopy in greater Europe. My personal challenge for the coming two years is to further the growth and development of the society. Undoubtedly the new ESGE governing board will play a significant role in this respect.
