Dear colleagues,

It is my pleasure to greet you in my new role as Editor-in-Chief of Endoscopy. After consulting with my family, who gave the green light despite the fact that they would see even less of me than they do now, I accepted this exciting challenge.

With the support of the Editorial Board and that of my two exceptional colleagues, Michael Bretthauer (Oslo) and Mario Dinis-Ribeiro (Porto) as Co-Editors-in-Chief, I look forward to this new era.

It will be a very hard act to follow Thomas Rösch, who has been, for many years, a superb helmsman. His acumen and vision have contributed largely to the increase of the quality and renown of the journal worldwide. I would like to take the opportunity here to wish him all the very best for his new endeavors.

It is reassuring that the Editors will remain supported by Hilary Hamilton and her superb team and I look forward to continue collaborating with them.

Overall, I think the future of Endoscopy is bright and I really hope that our endoscopic profession will further expand and take up the challenge to perform well-designed studies with the objective to learn and show what the most optimal type of procedure(s) is/are for which type of patient.

Finally, I would like to emphasize how much I have appreciated working with authors and reviewers alike in my former role as Co-Editor-in-Chief. With your continuing support, I am very much looking forward to the years to come!
