The first dialysis treatment is not only a special situation for patients, but also a challenge for the nursing staff and physicians caring for them. Many parameters have to be considered and defined individually. The „new patient“ needs an intensive care. First contact with dialysis treatment is of enormous meaning for patients as dialysis will form a relatively big part of their future life and the first impression is most influential. But what belongs to a first dialysis treatment and what has to be specifically considered? On the basis of a virtual patient, I have listed all important parameters for first dialysis treatment in the way we conduct it in the dialysis center in „Klinikum Fulda“.
