Abstract

Actual guidelines for breast diagnostics are based on 50 years of experience with the imaging modalities mammography and breast ultrasound. MRI of the breast, however, is hardly mentioned in the current state of recommendations in spite of the fact that this method is invariably superior to all other imaging modalities. A potential paradigm shift in breast diagnostics is described by two breast MRI experts on the basis of data acquired during the recent years, as well as their own experiences.
