Alternative Therapiemöglichkeiten klimakterischer Beschwerden umfassen Nahrungsergänzungsmittel, nicht rezeptpflichtige, überwiegend pflanzliche Präparate und nicht hormonale Therapien mit Arzneimitteln anderer Indikationsbereiche. Präparate, die Cimicifuga racemosa oder Phytoestrogene beinhalten, werden am häufigsten eingesetzt. Zu diesen Präparaten liegen heute auch die meisten wissenschaftlichen Untersuchungen vor.
