Mini-Implantate: eine sichere Therapie-Alternative beim zahnlosen Patienten

Durchmesser-reduzierte Implantate stellen eine gute Alternative zur Knochenaugmentation und Insertion von Standard-Durchmesser-Implantaten (> 3,5 mm) dar. Narrow-Diameter-Implants (NDI, 1,8–3,5 mm) werden hinsichtlich ihres Durchmessers in 3 Kategorien unterschieden, wobei Kategorie 1 die Mini-Implants (MDI, 1,8–2,9 mm) umfasst. Die derzeit verfügbare wissenschaftliche Evidenz zeigt für Durchmesser-reduzierte Implantate in den Indikationen herausnehmbare und festsitzende Prothetik eine sehr gute Implantat-Überlebensrate von 90–100 %. Der zu erwartende Erfolg ist von der Patientenselektion, aber auch von der Erfahrung des Behandlers abhängig. An der Universität Bern werden seit dem Jahr 2009 zur Versorgung von zahnlosen Patienten mit ausgeprägter Alveolarfortsatzatrophie oder kompromittierter Allgemeingesundheit MDI's eingesetzt. Die häufigste Indikation stellen 4 interforaminale Implantate dar, die über die bestehende Unterkiefer-Totalprothese sofort belastet werden.
