Einleitung

Ende der 1950er-Jahre wurde die diagnostische Nervenbiopsie zur Differenzialdiagnose verschiedener Neuropathien etabliert und in den folgenden Jahrzehnten insbesondere mit der Entwicklung der Elektronenmikroskopie verfeinert [1] [2] [3]. Heutzutage hingegen wird die Sinnhaftigkeit einer Nervenbiopsie kritisch diskutiert und die Indikationen nehmen in den zurückliegenden Jahren stetig ab. Dies hat allen voran 2 Gründe: (a) Fortschritte in der Humangenetik ermöglichen eine schnelle und sichere Diagnose hereditärer Neuropathien, sowie (b) der Verlust der technischen Expertise zur Aufarbeitung einer guten Nervenbiopsie.
