Zusammenfassung

Obwohl Bauchschmerzen im Kindesalter zu den häufigsten Symptomen gehören, stellt sich das Problem ihrer diagnostischen Einordnung als sehr schwierig dar. Bei Kindern mit einer zugrunde liegenden rheumatischen Erkrankung ist die diagnostische Aufarbeitung noch komplexer. Abdominelle Beschwerden können sowohl durch die Manifestation als auch durch ein Rezidiv der rheumatischen Erkrankung oder durch Therapienebenwirkungen bedingt sein. Darüberhinaus können die Beschwerden unabhängig von einer rheumatischen Erkrankung mit klassischen Krankheitsbildern im Zusammenhang stehen. Die exakte diagnostische Zuordnung ist Voraussetzung für eine adäquate Therapie.

Summary

Despite the fact that abdominal pain is a common complaint in children and adolescents, the complexity of this condition only recently has begun to be understood. In children with an underlying rheumatic disease the issue gets more sophisticated. Abdominal complaints can be caused by manifestation or flare of the rheumatic disease, or by side effects of the therapy, or by an illness which is separate from the autoimmune disease. Examining for gastrointestinal involvement in rheumatic diseases in childhood and adolescence is an important part of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
