This article shows a method how to ascertain the long-run advantage of a new therapy in comparison to the one currently used. This can be accomplished by calculating the prevalence rates for different function states from the stationary probabilities of a Markov chain. To give an example, the method is applied to an epilepsy program. As there are no serious disadvantages, the method is recommended for further use and refinement.
