Dear Colleagues and Friends,

It is a great honor and a pleasure for the local organizing committee and for the board of the Société Européenne de Neurologie Pédiatrique (SENP) to host this year's Annual Meeting in Barcelona, Spain. As usual, our annual meeting is an incomparable opportunity to share scientific knowledge, increase international collaborations, and exchange clinical and research competencies.

Neurosciences have made enormous progresses over the last decades improving our understanding about brain development and plasticity, and research in the field of pediatric neurology has contributed extensively toward these new frontiers of knowledge. Future challenges of our discipline are related to the contribution of genetics to improve diagnostic precision, but also to develop new therapeutic options for neurological rare diseases in childhood. It is extremely important for our society to involve the younger generation of child neurologists and to encourage them to enter the field and meet these challenges as well as hopes.

Our scientific program is dedicated to the following topics:

  • Genetic contribution to the management of childhood epilepsies.

  • Treatable metabolic and degenerative diseases with epilepsy.

In addition to invited lectures and satellite symposia, there will be free communications and poster sessions. We are pleased to present a selection of the most relevant and illustrative peer-reviewed abstracts here.

Preparing this conference was an interesting and stimulating task for each of us. We are looking forward to a lively meeting characterized by thorough discussions in a friendly atmosphere with the aim of improving our skills for the children we care for and their families.

We would like to thank the invited speakers who accepted to participate and share their valuable scientific expertise, as well as all colleagues who will contribute with their communications and posters.
