Eine prophylaktische Ganzhirnbestrahlung (Prophylactic cranial irradiation; PCI) verlängert nicht das Gesamtüberleben (OS) von Patienten mit nicht-kleinzelligem Lungenkarzinom (NSCLC). Dies ergab der 10-Jahres-Follow-up einer auf der World Conference on Lung Cancer (WCLC) veröffentlichten Phase-III Studie NRG/RTOG 0214. Kritiker bezweifeln jedoch, ob das Studiendesign überhaupt geeignet war, einen Effekt der PCI nachzuweisen.
