Telemedizin in der Peritonealdialyse

Der Anteil an PD-Patienten (PD: Peritonealdialyse) ist in Deutschland weiterhin sehr niedrig, obwohl die PD gerade bei älteren Dialysepatienten eine gute Therapieoption darstellt. Eine der häufigsten Gründe gegen die PD ist die mangelnde ambulante Infrastruktur, die den Patienten und der PD-Assistenz in der Häuslichkeit eine sichere und kontrollierte PD ermöglichen kann. Mithilfe von telemedizinischer Überwachung und Unterstützung lässt sich die ambulante Versorgungsstruktur bei APD gerade bei älteren Patienten optimieren. Die TAPD (telemedizinisch assistierte PD) zeigt die technische Machbarkeit solcher Optimierung.

The fraction of peritoneal dialysis (PD) patients among the total chronic dialysis population in Germany has remained low, although PD has been shown to be an equivalent dialysis modality even in elderly patients. A lack of adequate home infrastructure for safe and well-controlled PD is frequently listed as one of the main reasons for preferring in-center HD over home PD. Modern telemedicine technology may be useful to improve home monitoring and to offer support to elderly patients on home PD. First clinical applications of telemedicine-assisted PD (TAPD) have been developed and demonstrated as feasible and attractive new ways for the optimization of home treatment in chronic dialysis patients.
